Summer Party

For the past two years, us folk at the Little Angel have thrown a party, but not just any sort of party – a huge, community driven, completely free, full of cake, puppets, fun and frolics party.

We see our parties as a way of celebrating with all our audiences, our volunteers and our staff that we as a theatre are wonderful. It’s not that we have big heads and want to show off our egos, it’s quite the opposite.

One of the common phrases which we hear each week at the theatre is what a ‘hidden gem’ we are. It’s true… tucked away in Dagmar Passage with residential houses around us, and other larger theatres around the corner – we are somewhat hidden.

So our party is about saying “We’re still here! We’re still making puppetry shows, and it wouldn’t be the same without YOU” (…and we’re still wonderful!)

It’s a celebration! A Party! It’s FUN!

This year our third summer party fell on the hottest day of the year. It was sweltering, but saying this, we also saw the largest turnout of partygoers yet! We had no way of monitoring exact figures, but it was well over 600 parents and children alike.

Amazing. Truly amazing.

Face Painting, Caterpillar Making, Butterfly Making, Gardening, Plant Pot Painting, Puppet Making, Puppet Demonstrations, Theatre Tours and Cake Eating. The party was brilliant.

Words alone can’t quite describe how amazing a party we throw, so here are some photos:

As well as having a fun free day, we also raised some more money towards our Name In Lights Campaign, and that cake stall certainly has helped to pay for our winter heating bill.

To everyone that helped us out, has been to a show here at the Little Angel, or those wonderful people who brought cakes – we want to thank you.

Thank you for supporting us.
Thank you for being there.
Thank you for believing in us.

We are a completely unfunded theatre, and whilst we get small funding for various projects, our theatre stays open purely on ticket sales and through the laughter of children watching our shows (or at least that is what I think).

The Little Angel Theatre after 49 years wouldn’t be open if it wasn’t for YOU.
Thank you.

If you came along, we’d love to hear your feedback. You can email jake[at]littleangeltheatre.com your comments, thoughts, or even photos! Whatever you have to say, Jake wants to hear it!
